I'm still on the fence with Twitter... I think it can be useful, but are enough people beyond the age of 13 using it. And, if so, is anyone really listening?...

Twitter Useful

Everyone seems to be into twitter and I have recently set up my own account. Butis there some inner secret I am missing. So far, not getting it

I use it to keep a few multithreaded lists:
1. what I am paying attention to (where's my presence, maybe what I'm thankful for), a twittering meditation. Example- out of blue, a friend txts: gazn the sun, mo alive than me.undulating rhythms of fool blue, sun cast behind a hazy vue
2. to share pithy thoughts that occur in the heat of the moment to share with wider audience than just my notebook (thinking or being, more so than "doing"). Example- journey is over, time to begin again: social art, gifted kids, hyperspace art, golden age,art colony,5D gaia, the Fools shall inherit the Earth
3. quick tips to keep a theme alive for a while; I added "sol" tips section to throw out tips ala Live Earth (http://www.twitter.com/liveearth070707) on 40th anniversary of Summer of Love. Example- sol:while hypnotize by lava lamp, wrap psy head round: yes is a world & in this world of yes live (skilfully curled) all worlds -ee cummings

You don't have to use Twitter as they advertised. I think of it as broadcast text-messaging, and I got into Twitter when I realized how much fun texting on a PDA type phone is. I think Twitter might do 'better' when more people in US get used to texting.

Twitter users break down into 2 categories that I have seen (so far): relentless self-promoters (you know who you are!) and people just trying to keep up with their friends. Personally, as averse as I was to the service -- who cares what you had for lunch -- it's incredibly useful for small downloads so you don't find yourself repeating the same stuff to 20 people -- in fact, you avoid the entire "So, how was your week/business trip/ vacation?"
